Anywhere I Roam...

Puss Pad V.2.0 has been having its fair share of guests, mostly male, but that is soon to change once me and big nick hand out sum flyers we made of us naked.

Ed does not like the couch from Pia's. So we got all new furniture. (seriously)

Have Heart show was great time, fun getting to play that, too bad all those dickhead medina kids were there.

Curfew show the following friday...not so fun. played at a high school and sounded worse then the high school bands..embarassing. Led to band fighting, which led to band fucking.

Finishing up season 4 of Lost, its really getting my dong erect. New season starts in like Jan, but since the owners of Puss Pad are intellectuals and don't need a tv i will be inviting myself over your houses to watch it.

Show Friday in Kent should be cool, looking forward to seeing Face Reality again, and maybe some hot babeage...(but i'd still settle with some mediocre babeage...)

Being the doughmaster has been kicking my ass but it does have its benefits. I now wake up periodically during the night with intense pains in my hands which is probably early onset of arthritis or syphilis.

Thats been my life as of late, if you cared...(HA)

If you tryin to fuck in medina...we be at the pad.

Holy shit it's been a while since there were any posts from anyone but your nephew charles,( Trying to make that stick by the way ). Well I don't know what Nick, Mike's or Billy's excuses are, but I know Pat doesn't have a computer and I jsut got back from vacation. Was visiting my annual vacation spot in lake Cumberland with a good friend or two, on a house boat bigger than my land house. Some Grandparents just make that green. I fully support old guys hitting on young girls... Well let me clear that up by saying 60 year old dude hitting on a 30 year old is totally funny, not a 30 year old dude hitting on a 0 year old.

Be on the look out for the upcoming (soon upcoming) Terror / Trapped under ice show at peabodys, and that Reign Supreme / The carrier (check this band out) show at Now that's class.

POOL PARTY

Do you have a pool?

Do you know someone who has a pool?

Let us know because we need to swim.

Charles, Carl, and myself are on the prowl today.  Call or text any one of us with pool or babe related information: 330-461-4223, 330-461-2090, 330-441-1230.  Those numbers are not in order so you get a surprise with whichever you choose.

BACK ON TRACK

So there has been some slacking on this blog lately.  I am sorry for that.  It is now time to get back into a solid posting routine.

For starters, swimming hangouts have been great lately.  Hood rats at the Medina City Pool make those hangouts even better.  When I can figure out how to convert cell phone videos to the proper format I will post videos showing how great these hood rats really were.

Yesterday I ventured down to West Virginia with Overload for their show with Trapped Under Ice.  Tank Top Guy is pissed he could not attend, but he voluntarily forfeited the remainder of his summer to work at a factory.  What an idiot.  Anyways, the show was a lot of fun, as were pre-show full court basketball and all day hangouts.  Billy almost ruined the night by locking his keys in his trunk, but luckily AAA came and saved the night during the very last song of TUI's set.  That band never disappoints live and will only continue to improve.

On the show front, here is what's coming up:

August 13th at Now That's Class

REIGN SUPREME
THE CARRIER

October 12th

CROWD DETERRENT
CREEPOUT
NUMB

November 12th

BIGGEST TOUR EVER

On another hardcore related note, be on the lookout for a possible comp coming out in the relatively near future featuring bands from this area as well as other bands that people need to check out.

On a lifting related note:
-Taylor loves trying to ruin sets by making jokes, but that is just so he can hopefully someday be as strong as me.
-Hess has gone away from the weights and now does 500,000 push-ups a week to cement his status as the most eligible bachelor in the greater Cleveland area.
-Peanut needs to do something that involves physical activity so he will no longer be the most out of shape one of our friends.
-Halloween Guy has been back in the gym and is hopefully making good progress.
-Carlson has been avoiding the gym but is always trying to keep losing weight to get under 100 lbs.
-For me it is time for cardio to start up again and shed another 10-15 lbs to get down to around 200, possibly under 200.  We will see how motivated I am.

On a swimming related note:
-If you have a pool or know someone who has a pool, let us swim.  We are very respectful and always behave.

On a sports related note:
-There should be baseball hangouts soon.  Basketball and football are also good ideas.

This was a long post, there was a lot of catching up to do now that summer classes are no longer crippling my summer.  Freedom is great, America is great, Europe is still better.

Friday show review

Got there early after eating some delicious fried ice cream at Don Tequilas in lovely medina, ohio. There were already some kids there, i don't think they knew it started at ten. Anyway, eventualy all the bands show up and

My Rulez!
-Started off the night, sounded tight musically, but Ian needs to sing into the mic. One day Ian, one day.

Face The Panic
-Old dudes playing rock and rolly hardcore. Guitar solos were in full effect, but they were really good at what they do.

LetXdown is straight edge
-Let down played next, and sounded very tight even know they had a fill in drummer. I was let down there were no fireworks (and I'm sure they were too) and Bob the singer didn't jump off anything.

Reign Supreme
-Where did all that weak nerdy mosh come from? If you were there you know exactly what i'm talking about, if you weren't, you dont want to know. Oh well, Reign supreme sounded really good other than the mic breaking a few times, and the drummer having carpel tunnel.

More kids need to promote for shows.

Friday, July 11, 2008

another hardcore post...

Reign supreme and Let Down are playing at not thats class tonight. 9 oclock, late as fuck but its a friday. I'm sure there will be show reviews later tonight

M.I.A.

Hey, sorry i've been a little missing in action lately, but heres a little insight on whats been goin on in my life the past few days. My parents decided it would be best if they set my free from my house, aka kicked me out. I must be moved out into a place by sept 1. Not too worried , i got a coupla leads on some real nice apartments where im sure ill feel very safe and clean...joke.

But seriously it will be a pussy palace, i predict my pussy consumption will increase at least 34% if i have my own pad. So thanks for that dad, who gets the last laugh now huh?

ALSO, i have no car. SO! my plan now is to get a car, get a pad, get enrolled in like my last 2 classes, and slam puss, not entirely in that order. If you have any of the items listed above, holla at ya boy.

Weekend was lame, hopefully it will turn around. Mad Minds trip cummin up. Im excited.

No Warning appreciation.

Let the haters hate, and the older generation talk about the youth crew band the members were in prior, but band is flawless. No warning S/T is one of the first hardcore records i listened to so i have to show my respects. Ill blood is a complete record, one which you can listen too all the way through which is hard to find. I'd also take suffer survive over a lot of the hardcore albums out today. Props to Anthony Jochum for the Ill Blood tattoo.

( I just figured this blog needed some hardcore talk, that's all. Go listen to Short Fuse and lose your mind for a second. )

Wall E

My first post will be an urgent request that everyone go and see the movie Wall E. Without a doubt Wall E is the best movie of the summer. . .so far. Although I am looking forward to The Dark Knight, Step Brothers, Pineapple Express and maybe a few others, I cannot stress how good this movie is. Wall E is funny, has a great message and is incredible to just look at. I could get into the plot, what the message is and how close all the humans in Wall E resemble a singer of a new band in Cleveland, but I hope that you see it for yourself. The last statement should be an incentive in itself to see Wall E

One of the worst feelings/situations to get into when your on the hunt to scrape up some clam is getting stuck in the dreaded friend zone. How dumb is it when your about to show a lady friend how you roll when she stops and says "Youre like my best friend, this would make things wierd."

FAIL!

RECORD SETTER

The award for farthest from home at the show last night goes to this young lady:

Young Cassie.  She plays drums in Worldbreaker, makes fancy art, and proudly X's up for Have Heart shows.

I will give her MVP of the show for being the only person in attendance from Georgia.

Did I mention that she is also the owner of one of the new Hope This Helps tanks?  She sewed it all up and will be the only person ever in Georgia to have that tank top.  Probably the only person in the whole lower half of the United States.

HAVE HEART / NOT VERSE

Show went waaayyyyyy too late, but actually ran smooth all night.  There was supposed to be a late show as well, but because of Have Heart running late, the late show bands played after the Right Idea / Overload combo set.  Verse dropped because their van broke, Have Heart was late because they tried to help Verse with their van and they were also given my home address in stead of the address for Now That's Class.  Apparently they just wanted to have a movie night.

Decades - They were decent, nothing overly special and their reaction showed that.  They were all real nice guys though that seemed like they were having a blast.  That's good.

Grave Maker - This band is good, Ed probably doesn't approve, but I know Tank Top Guy and I do approve.  Again really nice guys who were very happy to be playing the show.  I hope they trashed Davey's house.

Mad Minds - Multiple people were quoted as saying this was Mad Minds best set to date.  I Agree.  The new songs are good, the covers are good, and kids were definitely into it.

Right Idea - Hess' vocal cords are pissed.  I anticipated a much better reaction for them, but it was still a good short set.  Reaction was on par with previous cleveland shows, but I guess I expected it to be absolutely insane.

Overload - Which Overload you may ask since there are 15 whole pages worth of results when myspace music is searched with that name (including another Overload from Ohio).  They played 3 songs in the middle of Right Idea's set including a Project X cover (you probably don't need to ask what song).  Their reaction was good.  In typical cocky form, members of this band were discussing how their reaction was even better than Right Idea's when we were at My Friends for the post-show meal.  Chuck is pissed.

Attake - Thrash metal.  People who like thrash metal thought they were good.  People who did not like thrash metal thought they were bad.  Carlson and Alex thought their singer was a stone cold fox.

Necrofilth - I'm pretty sure this band has members from Medina.  The infamous Medina metalheads the Horvals.  I didn't watch them but I'm sure someone enjoyed them.

Wasteland - I was surprised with this band the night before the show, they were boring.

Have Heart - Absolutely insane reaction.  Dives off the highest speakers, the entire room singing along and 150+ people all having a blast.  It definitely seemed like it was worth the wait for all of the people who made extremely long drives to the show.  They played a short set since it was late, but I'm not sure how much energy everyone would have had left if they did decide to play more.

My Friends - The post-show meal wasn't as eventful as they normally are since a lot of people decided to just head home since the show ended so late.

It was a good night that was a complete mess but somehow managed to work out just fine.

Big thank yous go out to all of the kids who made long drives.  I know Indiana, Michigan (if you're reading this you better have already watched the Let Down video), Pennsylvania, and West Virginia were in attendance and potentially even more.  There we a lot of new faces.

Also, the new tanks are done.  I will try to get pictures sometime and post them.

Yo Brothers

Cali was way cool. More stories, photos, and sun burn later when I have time. I called the Perillo, she was totally down to let us stay at her place before we left... BUT the show got messed up and was pushed back to 7p instead of 1p so we had to cancel all plans of banging.. i mean hanging out. It worked out well anyway though, we ended up staying with Nate's dude AL BROWN who is real cool and had a super nice crib. Like I said more stories and photos to come. See you all at the show tonight. MOSH.

Play off grudges.

Have heart may be good, but the song bostons is about the wrong city.
If you're going to be singing along to that song , I hope you sing about your respective city. May this city be Clevo, or any of the surronding cities / states I sure hope the "boston" isn't audible.

P.S.
summer of hate is only 5 days away. Cheap show, but not a cheap line-up.

AMERICA'S ROLLER COAST

This is the most glorious picture you will ever lay your eyes on.  Heaven on earth.

Ok so a few of us got Cedar Point season passes this summer (Me, Pat, Glert, and Sam so far) and we have only gone once so far.  My summer classes are seriously blocking my ability to go, but in 3 weeks, once they are complete, we need to pick a day, rally the troops, and take Cedar Point by storm, preferably on a nice summer day that place is packed with babes as well as some of the most unbelievable white trash.  HOPE THIS HELPS field trip to Cedar Point.  Leave comments with suggestions for what day we should pick (some day in the second half of July would probably work best).

Reign supreme interview

i did this interview so long ago, in winter, when reign supremes "American Violence" came out. I was planning on writing a zine, a real paper one, but i don't have ed mishic like patience. It may happen one day, but for now you can read my very first shitty, very short, very boring tape recorder interview ever.

Name and Position in the band.

My name is Jay Pepito and I sing for the American heavy metal band entitled Reign Supreme.

Your EP “American Violence” just dropped how has the reaction been to that so far?

As far as I know its been really good, a lot of webzines and stuff have given really good reviews like 9/10 and
8/10. There’s a lot of kids hating on us from the bridge 9 board but I’m not surprised, there’s probably at least as many kids on the b9 board dropping off our nuts. So it’s good either way.

So why an EP not a full length? You’ve already released demos and such.

We wanted to do an LP but when Deathwish absorbed Malfunction at the time they couldn’t fit in an LP their release calendar so instead of us waiting until next fall to do an LP we decided to get an EP out because we wanted to tour and stuff and we were starting to build up a little bit of a following. We just wanted to get a record out.

Speaking of Deathwish, how has that been for you guys?

It’s been really incredible, they work really really hard. They don’t have the bigger budget of a label like Ferret or Trustkill but it kinda doesn’t matter because they push you as a band so hard and they do so much promotion for you it ends up helping you out probably more then being on one of those labels.

You guys have toured a lot, this is around your third time playing Cleveland. What do you guys do when you aren’t “Reigning Supreme”?

Well while we’re not on tour, which we’ve been doing a lot as a new band, most of us have jobs. I work at a clothing store called Deep Sleep in Philadelphia and we sell like expensive jeans and street wear and shit, I also teach Mauy Thai and Thai boxing. Some of the other guys work their jobs and do whatever. We just hang out with our girlfriends, go to shows, get tattooed and do dumb shit like that.

Speaking of street wear, is that wear you guys got the idea of the Supreme clothing rip-off?

“No that actually isn’t a rip off cause it’s a different font, the only thing similar is it’s red and it’s stylized different. We were actually thinking of doing a supreme rip-off, same font, same bar, same everything on a grey shirt, but we decided against it. I don’t like the fact that so many hardcore kids and people in general are into the brand supreme, I like a lot of street wear stuff, but that brand has one of the weakest showings of any of them. It’s not to talk shit, but chances are, if you’re wearing a supreme shirt and you’re at a hardcore show you probably don’t skate. It’s kinda like wearing a No Fear shirt and not surfing or some shit. It’s cheesy, a little lame to me.”

So Far you guys have done numerous tours, what’s your favorite city to play?

“Umm favorite, that’s really hard to say. Um, I think it really depends on the show, like we’ve played Richmond, Virginia and it’s been insane, but then it’s been totally horrible. I know, and I’m not just saying it cause we’re here, but Cleveland everytime we’re here it’s awesome. Kid’s rage and I guess they like us so I guess that’s cool. Cleveland was good; Romeo, Michigan was really good; Portland was fun; Vancuver was fun; Seattle was fun like that whole area was awesome. LA was fun, I mean usually everywhere we play is a pretty good show. Even if it’s not we aren’t worried about it since we’re such a new band.”

What was the general theme you tried to portray with “American Violence”?

“Well it depends. Basiccly what this band writes about, or what I write about since I write all the lyrics is like the song defiant being able to hold yourself accountable for your position in life and not blaming others. Kind of like the same theme as the “Fuck the Weak” record. At the same time there are songs like Iscariot about more typical hardcore themes like being betrayed. Then we have stuff like “Faithless” and “To a Dead God” which is like feeling alone, hopeless and miserable. I want to say that we aren’t an anti-religious band at all, but that’s what those songs are kind of about. It comes across like that sometimes but its more like you feel alone, and feeling alone and being alone sometimes you can say ‘I don’t think there is a god because I feel so alone and so miserable.””

OPEN YOUR THIGHS!!

Overload and My Rulez each recorded a demo recorded on the the other day. An unmastered version of some Overload songs are up on the myspace if you wanna take a listen and My Rulez songs should be coming soon. We recorded at the Engine Room in Akron with our friend Gabe . A bunch of great dudes showed up for gang vocals (taylor, pat, hess,ed,shawn) and good jokes were made . Hess laid down some guest vocals for an overload song and i did some for another one .

No Turning Back and Wake up Call stayed at my house the same night , but they didn't end up getting to Kent until (assholes) . They were nice though , the euro doods especially. They loved cereal haha . They stayed at ians the next night and then continued tour.

We went back to Gabes today to lay down the tracks for Myrulez guitar and vocals . In my opinion the new material is a hundred times better than what we have out now so keep your eyes out for it and if your peanut , eye .

The past

So my friend Brandon sent me a link to some guy's blog. He's some font designer (House Industries) but he's also an old hardcore dude. He posts links to alternate gorilla biscuits recordings, and also cool Chain of strength shirt collections.
chiggity check it.

BACK IN BUSINESS

There has been a serious lack of posts on my part lately thanks to my laptop biting the dust. My new computer will be in action tomorrow and there will surely be a substantial post to follow.

News:

Tanks - New design will be done for the Have Heart / Verse / Right Idea show on the 23rd at Now That's Class. Only 30 so get them quick.

Movie Night - First one in way too long. Only a single feature since I take summer classes seirously. If Red Dawn ever happens for real, I'm picking up Glert and heading to Searcy's. Taylor thinks he would survive, but he is definitely no Robert. Speaking of Robert, be on the lookout for the Robert pose everywhere.

Golf - Rocco is a good guy, I will be pulling for him in the 18 hole playoff with Tiger.

Investments - First exam at noon. Fuck that.

The last word - Who books shows on two days notice? Who books shows in Painsville? Who goes to shows in Painsville? I Rise, Wake Up Call, and No Turning Back are going to have fun playing to 5 people in a garage.

Get a bike, meet me in the streets, let's ride.

Ridin'

Last night was my first ride of the summer with the bike crew. We were 6 deep and cruised at speeds reaching 60 MPH. We dominated the streets between 1:00 and 2:30am. An ideal time to relax and hit top speeds without the worry of busy traffic killing us. I was very surprised as to just how much ground we covered in so little time. It was a great hangout. AND I also learned that it is relatively easy to text while biking. My advice to all this summer is to invest large amounts of money in fixing up old bikes or purchasing very expense new bikes to join this riding crew.

In other news, I wanted to share a blog that I have been reading for a long time. The blog is a photography blog done by a straight edge dude currently living in Japan. I emailed him once just to say what's up and that I thought his photos were awesome. He wrote back some time later thanking me and he seemed real cool. What brings me to share this is he is way into the biking scene. Him and his friends have large get togethers and ride deep into the Japanese night. When you visit his blog you'll see flyers for such and I think we should rip the idea and start holding these events. He also shoots pretty much everything and does a great job while doing it. Check it out when you have time.
